Adobe has released Flash Player 10 for all OSes. They do have a deb version for Ubuntu. Go here and click Flash Player under Linux x86. Click the drop down box where it says select version to download and select .deb for Ubuntu 8.04+ as shown in the picture below.
Update: The flash based media file uploader in WordPress doesn’t work when I click the Choose file to upload button after I upgraded to Flash player 10.
