Google has released version 1.1 beta of it’s Google Desktop for Linux. The new version searches more image formats and Microsoft documents. You can download the copy of the new version from here.
I tried Google Desktop 1.0. I didn’t like it much. It slowed down my system startup time after logging in. I still prefer Beagle. Though some people have complained about beagle using lots of resources, I didn’t have any issue with it in my desktop or laptop. I’m using tracker with Gutsy, but tracker doesn’t search (as of now) wide variety of file formats as Beagle does.
