Kubuntu Feisty Fawn Beta released

Kubuntu team has released Kubuntu Feisty Fawn Beta today. Some of the new/upgraded features in Beta are:

1. Kubuntu Upgrade tool: Users of Kubuntu 6.10 (Edgy Eft) can now upgrade seamlessly to 7.04 (Feisty Fawn) by using the new dist-upgrade tool implemented in the Adept Package Manager. You can access it through KMenu -> System -> Adept Manager (Manage Packages).

2. The latest digiKam release brings major improvements as well as bug fixes. Some of the new improvements include:

  • Native JPEG2000 support
  • Tag view supports drag and drop
  • Batch tool to sync all metadata

3. New in Kubuntu, and one of the first times ever, Topic Based Help for system documentation.

4. New layout and look for OEM installer. Under the covers it has also been ported to Qt 4, ready for the move to KDE 4.
