Windows Live OneCare update

Category Announcement, Technology

Microsoft has updated their Windows Live OneCare product to 1.5.1890.16. The product was bloated and veryyyy slow. It used to take a long time to open and very long time to start and complete the scan (even for a single file). The new version starts much faster and scans faster, though it still fares very poorly in terms of catching the viruses, worms etc compared to Norton, McAffee and other virus scanners.

Category Announcement

Amazon launched Amapedia, a website where people can share information about the products they like. It’s similar to Wikipedia, but specific to products. Anyone with an Amazon.Com account can edit the site. According to amapedia, it makes it easy for you to tag products with what they are and with their most important facts, and for others to search, discover, filter, and compare products by those tags. The site is still under beta.

Thanks to readwriteweb for the info.

Feeds Plus – IE7 plugin for RSS feeds

Category Technology

Feeds Plus is an Internet Explorer 7 plugin that aggregates your feeds and pops up a notification when there are new items to read. Feeds within a folder are grouped together as an aggregated feed so that you can quickly go through the recent updates.  Also, you can continue to use the feed reading controls like search, sort, and filter on an aggregated feed.

With Feeds Plus, you can set some or all your feeds to pop-up a notification when there’s an update.  Clicking on the notification opens the feed for you to read. The Feeds Plus tray icon will glimmer to show that there are new items available.
