Google video has trailers of 3D clips from the 3D movies which are soon coming to Google Videos. The clip was provided by 3dexperience. You have to use Red/Cyan 3D glasses to view the 3D effect. Red is Left Eye and Cyan is right. 3D glasses can be purchased from their store. It’s interesting to watch the trailers with naked eyes, so it’ll be thrilling and exciting if we use the 3D glasses.

Edit: I forgot to add the link. I did it now.

How quickly can the temperature change

I was reading the Nature Question and Answers book when I came across this:
The temperature in Spearfish, South Dakota shot up 49 degrees in just 2 minutes (from -4d F to 45d F). It fell 58degrees (from 54d F to -4d F) the same morning in 27 minutes. Wow!!! It happened in 1943. It was like freezing when you left the house and warm before you got into the car. I pity the people living there.

I watched the video of the early morning eclipse in MSNBC.com. It was awesome. What a sight. Don’t miss it If you haven’t watched the video. You can see the video in NASA’s site also, but If you want to see it in MSNBC, then you need the buggy Internet Explorer or you can use Firefox with IE tab extension installed.

Microsoft inability forces third parties to issue fixes for IE holes

By now the entire world knows there are 3 serious vulnerabilities discovered in the past few days in Internet Explorer and Microsoft has not issued any patch till now. There are exploits in the wild to steal user data and passwords using those vulnerabilities. Mircorsor, as usual, has not yet released any patch and now third parties are offering patches (patch1 from eEye, patch2 from Determina)for couple of those vulnerabilties. Only god knows how long would Microsoft take to fix those holes. I hope they do that before non-technical users loose their valuable data. Users should also be careful while installing third party patches. Make sure the sites and patches are legible. To avoid all these headache, ditch Internet Explorer and use Mozilla Firefox or Opera. For IE users, Read this article.

MSFeeds.dll problem while installing IE7

If you got “Error loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\msfeeds.dll The specific procedure could not be found.” while trying to install IE7 (I got it in my desktop), then IEBlog has the solution for you. It says the problem could be due to the anti-spyware installed. One suggestion is to disable anti-spywares till the IE7 installation is over and if that doesn’t work, then you have to modify the registry as given there. I’ll give it a try within couple of days to see if it works.

Kubuntu Dapper Flight5 on my Acer Travelmate

I installed Kubuntu Dapper Flight5 on my Acer Travelmate 8204 laptop on saturday. I didn’t have Kubuntu installation CD, so I used Ubuntu Dapper CD and installed Ubuntu. I then did sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop and then sudo apt-get remove ubuntu-desktop. I then upgraded the kernel to linux-686-smp kernel (version 2.6.15-19). The system started without any problem. The wireless connection was not working. I was trying stuff that was there in the forum that my brother forwaded to me. It didn’t work. I then ran the script ipw3945install that wheelspin gave in this forum. I then rebooted my system and voila, my wireless network was working. Kubuntu has KNetwork manager which I’m using to manage the wireless network. I then installed superkaramba desktop applet manager and installed few desktop applets. I didn’t find anything that’s quite helpful as Yahoo Widgets for Windows, except for few system applets.
Kubuntu (i.e. KDE) has still some bugs. The most important one is that sound is broken in Kubuntu. I was told that it is due to some bug with the kernel (2.6.15-19 I think), so sound is not working for me. Kubuntu team has to fix this before Dapper release. There are other minor/major KDE bugs like I have to click 2 or 3 times for a program to start. For eg: the new Adept installer sits on the system tray. If I click that once, my taskbar will indicate that adept is starting, but after few seconds, nothing will happen and the taskbar will be empty. I had to click Adept again to start. Same problem with other programs also. This problem is there in KDE for a long time, I think. I have seen it in my desktop machines also.

Speeding driver had no arms

MSNBC reports that a New Zealand police officer got a shock when he stopped a driver doing 121 kilometers (75 miles) an hour on the east coast of the country’s North Island — the man had no arms. He was using one foot to steer the car and the other to operate the pedals. He told the police that he had been born without arms and had never held a driver’s license. Wow. I can’t think of driving without arms.
